The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Slabmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator. In Slabmaking, our Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS) Furnace uses scrap steel and molten iron from the Blast Furnace which we refine to cast 3 million tonnes of steel into slabs.

In this key role, you will utilise your comprehensive mechanical knowledge to coordinate maintenance activities and improvement initiatives for our Slabmaking equipment and assets. You will provide technical support to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of this equipment through investigation on equipment issues, focusing on the continuous reliability of these assets now, and into the future.

When you join our team, you will work a 9-day fortnight - dayshift, Monday to Friday, with every 2nd Friday as an RDO.

What Will You Do?

Being in this key role, that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products, you will:

  • successfully contribute to a safe working environment, ensuring safety standards are never compromised
  • maintain asset performance to improve equipment performance, capability and costs
  • perform maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
  • seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies
  • manage maintenance service providers to ensure maintenance work is executed safely and to specification whilst continuing to improve tool time, lower costs and improve quality

More About You

As an enthusiastic and motivated individual, you will bring your experience and demonstrate a willingness to develop your skills. You will bring:

  • tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a Mechanical Trade
  • experience working in a similar industry within Mechanical Maintenance, with a focus on defect elimination and equipment reliability
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • experience in project coordination and collaboration with multiple internal and external customers
  • experience or exposure in the application of maintenance management systems and processes (SAP)
